Peter has held a range of board positions and directorships at SME financial services companies too and is most energised by working at fast-moving companies who are committed to utilising technology to the fullest.
Q: Your CV is impressive. What would you say is your greatest career achievement so far?
A: Rather than choose one achievement, I want to say I’m most proud of the outcomes I’ve negotiated during planned exit strategies and fundraising and large-scale commercial projects. I’ve sold two businesses for eight figures each on behalf of shareholders, taken three businesses and a charity from a loss to a profit, raised enough capital to save two businesses from closure and brought about double-digit compound growth for two additional organisations.
Q: What inspired you to join Wealth Wizards?
A: Being a director in the advice and life sectors for circa 20 years, I began to believe that the industry needed technology to serve the needs of the UK population. I would look with increasing envy at the technology of businesses like Wealth Wizards whilst I was working with more traditional financial brands who were at the early stages of integrating tech into their brands. After two years of studying fintech more closely, I decided to move to a business that I thought were very close to using tech to solve some of the problems the industry faces.
Q: What do you do in a typical day as CCO at Wealth Wizards?
A: There genuinely is no typical day and that’s what I love about the business. We do have routine, strong governance and structure, but our size and culture means we’re able to adapt and react very quickly. An exciting week involves talking to existing clients and prospects about the way our technology can transform their businesses.
Q: Which Wealth Wizards project/product are you most excited about?
A: We’re currently speaking to a D2C platform and an asset manager. Both of the opportunities we’re presenting to them would be genuinely transformational to their business over the long-term. We’re also working with a global bank to transform the way they engage with the clients. All of these projects feel like we’re making fundamental progress towards our corporate mission of making advice available to all.
Q: Tell us a little-known fact about you.
A: I love having an adventure and try to organize something at least every other year, usually in aid of a charity that is very special to me, the Youth Adventure Trust. So far I’ve traversed Baffin Island unsupported as part of a small group in the Arctic winter, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, kayaked across Scotland, made an unsuccessful attempt on Mont Blanc (I will return one day) and am currently planning a trip to the Atlas Mountains.
